The latest GE S-1000 standard revision calls out some new responsibilities for prime suppliers.  Among them, suppliers must have a process in place to verify correct raw materials prior to the first operational step by April 1, 2017.  Raw material is defined as metallic sheet, plate, bar, and other similar forms.  This includes pre-blanks, pucks, etc. but not hardware and standard components.  The standard states that hand held spectrometry devices shall be used to verify material.

Our metallurgical department is a GE S-400 lab and can provide you an easy solution for maintaining compliance.  Have your raw materials drop shipped or delivered to our facility, and our metallurgical staff can perform positive material identification (PMI) within one day of delivery.   Our staff can also perform PMI on-site at your facility, which may be preferred when shipping raw materials is cost prohibitive.
