NDT Inspection

Quick, Accurate NDT Inspections

Our team is available to offer additional specialized inspection services on your schedule.

Tell us your inspection needs, and we will meet them, whether that involves standard services or creating something more custom.

When necessary, our labs can operate 24/7 to accommodate your schedule.

We offer a comprehensive array of conventional and advanced NDT methods along with metallurgical testing, calibration services, industrial rope access, and bolt torquing.

Non-Destructive Testing

Non-destructive testing (NDT) refers to a wide group of inspection methods used to analyze the soundness of a material, component, or structure without physically or chemically altering it. We have a wide range of capabilities and perform visual inspections in conjunction with all of our test methodologies.

Our NDT inspection methods are available both in our facility and in the field, including a mobile dark room that allows us to develop radiography film on site for quick results. Our staff is trained in proper safety procedures for field inspections including fall protection, confined space, and personal protective equipment.

Metallurgical Testing

Metallurgy is the science and study of metals. By testing and characterizing a metal’s microstructure, chemical, and mechanical properties, we can determine whether it is suitable for a particular application or conforms to a required specification. Metallurgical analysis can be employed as part of a quality assurance program and has many applications in research and development.

We offer metallurgical testing as a stand-alone service or as a complement to any of our non-destructive testing services. Our metallurgical lab is accredited by A2LA for ISO/IEC 17025, AS9100, Rev. C, and is certified as a General Electric S-400 facility.

American Testing Services will provide you with a high quality, reliable solution to your metallurgical needs. Whether it’s failure investigation, routine chemical and mechanical testing, or material selection, our skilled metallurgists can guide you along the most cost-effective path to find the answers you need.

Industrial Rope Access

Rope access lets us put technicians in hard-to-reach locations with the use of specialized rope techniques that can be applied to a variety of environments. Unlike traditional access methods, custom rope access solutions can be designed to fit many situations quickly and efficiently; from confined space penstocks to massive concrete structures to complicated steel installations, eliminating the need for costly staging and heavy equipment.

We use modern rope access equipment, supervision, and training to produce an exceptionally safe and efficient way to solve vertical access problems.

Our rope access systems:

  • Are installed and dismantled quickly and often require fewer personnel than traditional access methods, saving you time and money.
  • Cause little impact at ground level, allowing other trades to continue working, thus preventing expensive site shutdowns and road closures that are caused by scaffolding and other traditional access methods.
  • Minimize disruptions to facility operations and decrease downtime.
  • Use minimal motor-based equipment and machinery, which reduce exhaust and noise.
  • Are unobtrusive and cause minimal disruption to public access. This can be especially important when historical structures need to retain visual integrity during inspections or maintenance.

Dedicated to Safety:

  • Our technicians are independently trained and certified through SPRAT (Society of Professional Rope Access Technicians) every 3 years, which includes high angle rescue procedures.
  • All our business is conducted in accordance with OSHA regulations. SPRAT membership provides our technicians with access to the latest standards, equipment, and tools.
  • We have an excellent safety record with no fatalities and few lost time incidents.
  • Our technicians work from 2 ropes; a working rope and a safety rope. Each rope is individually anchored, and the technician is permanently attached to both.
  • We require a minimum of 2 technicians for all rope access work, enabling mutual surveillance.
  • Rope access is statistically safer than scaffolds and uses fewer workers.
  • Rope systems can be removed from a job site at the end of each shift, minimizing the chance of vandalism.
