dark-horse-tavern.135939Those of you that have been in Dayton for a while will remember a place called The Byers Inn. It was a great place to hear live music on a Sunday night. Several years ago The Byers Inn was purchased, completely remodeled, and renamed the “Dark Horse Tavern.”

When you arrive at the Dark Horse Tavern you’ll notice the southwestern style design. Once inside, it becomes even more apparent. I enjoy sitting at the wrap around bar, but there are several booths as well as tables. I start out with one of their seasonal beers on tap, and I really enjoy their Smoked Wings & Drums.  If smoked isn’t your thing you might try the Texas Nachos (chips with chicken, chili, cheese, tomatoes, jalapenos, onions, sour cream, salsa, and guacamole) or Pretzel Sticks with Nacho Cheese.

The Dark Horse specializes in pit smoked entrees including dry rubbed mesquite baby back ribs, chicken, pulled pork, and Texas brisket. All of these are excellent choices with a choice of two sides. They also offer soups, salads, a number of different sandwiches, and wraps.

The food, drinks, and service are all wonderful here. They have a party room for special events, and they still feature great live music on the weekends.
