If you know Chris Small, you know he is a big guy with a big appetite!  Chris loves eating out at the many great locally owned restaurants and pubs in the Miami Valley.  Each month he’ll share one of his favorites with you.

The owners of ele Cake Co. started baking in 1997 under the name “Taste of Elegance” out of a home kitchen because of a passion for making cakes. Today, their hard work and dedication to pure decadence (oh, that buttercream frosting!) has enabled them to open three locations in the greater Dayton area, the newest being the ele Cake Co. Bistro & Wine Bar located at Austin Landing, just around the corner from our offices.

I stopped in the Bistro & Wine Bar, and I was very impressed with their menu. I was also pleased to see they have several local craft beers on tap as well as a large selection of wine.  I chose the Basil Chicken Sandwich for my meal – free range chicken breast marinated in fresh basil, garlic, olive oil and served with Bibb lettuce, tomato and garlic mayo on a toasted Telera bun.  It was served with homemade chips and was outstanding. I noticed they offer a number of small plates, such as Seared Sea Scallops served with butternut squash, roasted granny smith apples, and herbed butter sauce. The menu offered a nice variety of sandwiches, salads, and delicious sounding entrees, like a Double-Cut Pork Chop.  Brunch is available on Sundays.

I believe there is something for everyone here. I hope you enjoy the food and service as much as I did – it was amazing!
